Intro
Welcome
to The Drawing Board. Navigate through the sample galleries using
the rollovers above. There are four sections containing various
samples - design, illustration, multimedia and writing - plus an
info section with contact details and the other non-essential blurb.
Design
Designing
for print can be very satisfying, and at the same time, fraught with
the possibility of error. Part of the reason for this is, I believe,
reluctance on the part of designers to understand the fundamentals
of the print industry. On the flip side, there are a few curmudgeonly
printers too! Following some simple guidelines will cut down on the
chance of a slip-up.
Once
both the client and the designer set out parameters before the job
begins (i.e. agree a set of deadlines to be met throughout the project,
and what will be produced by these deadlines) then most projects
run smoothly. Whilst few designers have experienced every pitfall
(and there are new problems appearing all the time), I have seen
many of the common ones and know how to avoid them.
As
the old adage goes in this business: "there is always time
for a reprint..."
